Set Screw TPC Mod

In order to complete this project you will need at least one 10/32 set screw. These can be found at a hardware store for around 50¢ each.

However, the set screw will undoubtedly be too long to fit behind the nylon set screw without doing damage to your maker. The pair I purchased were about .25 inches long. The desired length for your new set screw should be around .065 - .07 inches long, depending on how far in your nylon set screw is.

You will need a small pair of pliers and a small cutting wheel attachment for the next step. Use the pliers to hold the top portion of the set screw, being careful not to damage the threads. Next, using the cutting wheel, cut the bottom part of the set screw off. After you've cut a little less than .2 inches you can use the flat surface of the cutting wheel to grind and smooth the set screw to the desired length.

When you've finished, make sure to wait a minute or two before putting the set screw in behind the nylon set screw as it will be hot. Now, because the thread of set screws typically reaches the head, put it in backwards, leaving the cut end facing outward. This will leave a flush surface and make it easier to put in and remove.
